no vas a poder transmitir.
🇺🇸 EFIN suspended by the IRS — what to do
If the IRS suspended or inactivated your EFIN, the first thing is to find out
why. There can be several reasons, and what you have to do depends on the reason — that information comes from the
IRS directly.
What you should do:- Call the IRS e-Help Desk first: 866-255-0654 (Mon–Fri, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm in your own local time — where you are, not Washington. Alaska and Hawaii follow Pacific time.). The call can take a while, but it is the only way to be told the reason for the suspension, the steps to follow, and whether they can reactivate the EFIN you already have or you truly have to start over.
- If they can reactivate it, that is the best outcome: it is fast and you keep the same EFIN.
- If they send you to reapply as new, they may ask for fingerprints and the process takes several months. That is why the call is worth making first, to be sure you really have to reapply.
Where it all happens: IRS e-Services →
e-file Application.
irs.gov/e-services →🔑 The PIN the application asks for is NOT your software's ERO PIN. They are two different things and get mixed up a lot:
- Application PIN — a 5-digit e-Services PIN that you create right there, used to sign the IRS application.
- ERO PIN — the one in your software, used to sign returns. It is 11 digits: the first 6 are your EFIN and you choose the other 5.
You created that PIN yourself when you opened your e-Services account. If you do not remember it,
there is no way to pull it from the software — you have to call the
e-Help Desk (866-255-0654) and ask them to help you
recover it or replace it with a new one. There is no other route.
⚠️ If you do end up with a new EFIN: send us the
EFIN letter (the
EFIN Application Summary you download from e-Services) so we can update your software. With the old EFIN you
will not be able to transmit.
