No abre: '1.1' is not a valid floating point value (Cannot create and initialize data file)

Error
El mensaje: "Closing TaxWise because of following errors: Cannot create and initialize data file. Cannot check the version of the data file. '1.1' is not a valid floating point value." al abrir TaxWise Desktop.

  1. Clic en el Start Menu (ícono de Windows) → Settings → Time & Language → Language & region.
  2. Country or region: United States.
  3. Regional format: English (United States).

🇺🇸 Will not open: '1.1' is not a valid floating point value (Cannot create and initialize data file)

The message: "Closing TaxWise because of following errors: Cannot create and initialize data file. Cannot check the version of the data file. '1.1' is not a valid floating point value." when opening TaxWise Desktop.

What happened: this comes from the computer, not from your returns or the installation. Windows has its regional format set to Spanish (or another country), which writes decimals with a comma (1,1) instead of a period (1.1). TaxWise expects the United States format, cannot read its data file, and closes. That is why uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix it.

Fix — change the regional format:
  1. Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) → Settings → Time & Language → Language & region.
  2. Country or region: United States.
  3. Regional format: English (United States).
  4. Close TaxWise and open it again (if it is still the same, restart the computer).
Windows screens can stay in Spanish: what must be English (United States) is the regional format (numbers and dates).
