No abre el programa: 'Runtime error 217'
Error
El mensaje: "Runtime error 217 at 00XXXXXX" al abrir TaxWise (los números del final cambian de una computadora a otra; no significan nada distinto).
Qué pasó: viene de la computadora, no de tus declaraciones. Son dos causas posibles:
- El archivo Msvcrt.dll de Windows está desactualizado.
- La configuración regional de Windows no es la correcta.
Solución 1 — actualizar Windows:- Clic en el Start Menu (ícono de Windows) → Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
- Clic en Install Available Updates o Resume Updates.
- Reinicia el equipo después de la actualización.
Solución 2 — la configuración regional: si no había actualizaciones pendientes, o si después de reiniciar sigue igual, entonces es la región. Se cambia en
Settings →
Time & Language →
Language & region: el
país o región debe ser
United States y el
formato regional English (United States).

The message: "Runtime error 217 at 00XXXXXX" when opening TaxWise (the numbers at the end change from one computer to another; they do not mean anything different).
What happened: this comes from the computer, not from your returns. There are two possible causes:
- The Windows Msvcrt.dll file needs to be updated.
- The Windows regional settings are not correct.
Fix 1 — update Windows:- Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) → Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
- Click Install Available Updates or Resume Updates.
- Restart the computer after the update.
Fix 2 — the regional settings: if there were no pending updates, or if it is still the same after restarting, then it is the region. Change it in
Settings →
Time & Language →
Language & region: the
country or region should be
United States and the
regional format English (United States).
